Bu tez çalışmasında, kişilerden alınan göz resmi içerisinden ayrıştırılan iris deseninin yapay zeka yaklaşımı ile tanınması işlemi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu yaklaşım çerçevesinde iris görüntüleri, yapay zekanın sınıflandırmada kullanılan bir çeşidi olan Yapay Sinir Ağları ile sınıflandırılmıştır. İris tanıma amacıyla, Çin Bilim Akademisi ve Beira Interior Üniversitesi'nden alınan iki farklı veritabanı bu çalışmada kullanılmıştır. İris bölgesinin tespiti için Hough dönüşümü ve Canny kenar bulma işlemleri uygulanmış ve gözbebeği ile iris bölgesinin dış kenar çizgileri tespit edilmiştir. ii Tespit edilen iris bölgesi göz resmi içerisinden ayrıştırılarak Kartezyen ? Polar koordinat dönüşümü ile dairesel halden dikdörtgensel hale dönüştürülmüştür. İris üzerinde yer alan desenlerin daha belirgin hale gelmesi amacıyla görüntüye histogram eşitleme uygulanmıştır. İris görüntüsünün elde edilmesinin ardından öznitelik çıkarımı işlemine geçilmiştir. Bu aşamada iki farklı öznitelik vektörü çıkarımı uygulanmıştır. İlk yöntemde Gabor dalgacık dönüşümü yöntemi kullanılmış ve iris deseni ikili (binary ? 0 ve 1 ile kodlama) olarak ifade edilmiştir. Buradan elde edilen öznitelik vektörü istatistiksel yaklaşımda kullanılmıştır. Diğer yöntemde ise, görüntü değişik boyutta (10*10, 14*14 v.b.) karesel pencereler kullanılarak alt görüntülere bölünmüş ve bu alt görüntülere ortalama mutlak sapma yöntemi uygulanarak çeşitli uzunlukta öznitelik vektörü elde edilmiştir. Bu çıkarım yöntemi ile elde edilen öznitelik vektörü ise yapay sinir ağı ile iris tanımada kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın son aşamasında ise karşılaştırma işlemi yapılmıştır. Karşılaştırma aşamasında iki farklı yol izlenmiştir. İlkinde, istatistiksel yöntemlerden Hamming uzaklığı yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu yöntemde tanıma işlemi iki görüntünün karşılaştırılması şeklinde olmaktadır ve bir sınıflandırma yapılmamaktadır. İkincisinde ise, yapay zeka yöntemlerinden çok katmanlı idrak sinir ağı, modüler sinir ağı ve Elman sinir ağı modelleri kullanılarak karşılaştırma işlemi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Genetik algoritmalar kullanılarak iris verileri azaltılmış ve karşılaştırma işlemi yeni iris verileri ile tekrar edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda alınan doğrulama oranlarına göre, modüler sinir ağı modelinin diğer modellere oranla daha yüksek doğrulamaya sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir. CASIA iris veritabanından alınan iris görüntüleri için % 97,14, UBIRIS iris veritabanından alınan iris görüntüleri için en yüksek 100 % tanıma oranı elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca, sigmoid aktivasyon fonksiyonu ve eşleştirmeli eğim azaltımı öğrenme algoritması daha yüksek doğrulama gerçekleştirdiği gözlenmiştir. Genetik algoritmalar kullanılarak öznitelik seçimi yapılmış girişlerde iris tanıma oranında düşüş gözlenmiştir.
In this study, the process of recognition of iris texture that segmented from eye pictures taken from the people with artificial intelligence approach. In the frame of this approach, the iris images are classified by the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) that the model of artificial intelligence used for classification. Two different iris databases obtained from Chinese Academy of Science and University of Beira Interior were used for iris recognition in this study. Hough transform and Canny edge detection algorithms are applied to iris images for determining the boundary lines of iris region. This determined iris region iv is reshaped from ring shaped to rectangular form by using Cartesian-Polar Coordinate transform. Then, histogram equalization is applied to this iris texture for becoming the iris features more clearly. After getting the iris texture, feature extraction process is done. Two different feature extraction methods are used in this phase. In the first method, Gabor Wavelet transform is applied to iris images and obtained binary (0 and 1 coding) iris feature vectors. This iris feature vectors are used in statistical approach for matching. In the other extraction method, the iris images are divided into various squared dimensions (10*10, 14*14 etc.) then Average Absolute Deviation (AAD) method are applied to these sub-images for getting the iris feature vectors. These feature vectors are used in artificial neural network approach for classification. In the last phase of this study, the matching or classification process is implemented. Two different ways are followed in recognition phase. In the first way, the kind of statistical matching method, Hamming Distance method is used. In this method, the identification process is implemented as matching between two iris templates. In the second way, three models of artificial intelligence; Multi-Layered Perceptron Neural Network, Modular Neural Network and Elman Neural Network are used for recognition of iris images. The genetic algorithms are used for reducing the iris features then the recognition process is repeated. According to the correct classification rates, modular neural networks have the highest classification rates. The correct classification rates are 97,14 % for CASIA iris image database and 100 % for UBIRIS iris image database. Besides that, sigmoid activation function and conjugate gradient descent learning algorithm have the highest classification rates. It has been observed that the classification rates have been decreased for the inputs obtained from the genetic selection. The classification rates obtained from experimental results were presented as in tables in results part of this study.
