Bu araştırmada, uzun yıllardır gündemde olan "boşanma" konusu ile daha önce çalışılmamış olan "eş kaybı" bağlamında Türk toplumundaki dul kadın algısı konu edilmektedir. Araştırmanın amacı eşi ölen ve eşinden boşanan kadınlara toplumun bakış açısı, Türk toplumunun dul kadınları nasıl algıladıklarının belirlenmesidir. Araştırmaya 25'i boşanan, 15'i eşi ölen toplam 40 kadın katılmıştır. Kocası ölen veya boşanan dul kadınların; çocuklu-çocuksuz, birinci derecede yakını olan veya olmayan kategorilerine göre farklı sonuçlar gözlemlenmektedir. Araştırmada kadınlara "dul kadın" imajıyla ilgili hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış 15 mülakat sorusu yöneltilmiştir. Kadınların deneyimleri, yaş, eğitim, ekonomik özgürlük, sosyo-kültürel düzey, yaşanılan çevre, aile desteği gibi çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılık göstermiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre kadınlar Türk toplumunda dul kadın olmanın en zor tarafının "dul kadın" etiketi olduğunu ve güvensizlik yaşadıklarını söylemişlerdir. Eşi vefat eden kadınlar dul kadın olmanın zorlukları arasında yalnızlık duygusunun yer aldığını, kendisini korumak için kısıtladığını, sosyal ortamlara girmeye çekindiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Türk toplumundaki "dul kadın" imajı zamanla azalmaya başlamıştır. Bu bulgular çerçevesinde toplumumuzda boşanan veya eşini kaybeden kadınlara karşı olumsuzlukların azaltılması, kendisini "dul imajı" altında ezilmiş hisseden bu kadınlarımızı topluma kazandırıp, benlik saygılarını ve özgüvenlerini tamir ederek desteklememiz gerekmektedir.
This research focuses on the perception of widow women in Turkish society, relatively on "divorcement" that has remained on the agenda through long times; though in relation with "partner loss". The objective of the research is to examine the society's point of view towards women whose partner died or who are divorced in Turkish society. The research has been carried by 40 women, 25 divorced women and 15 whose husband died. The results differ between those whose husband died or widowed after divorcement; through women with child or childless, women having first degree relatives or not etc. In the research "widowed women" subjected to answer semi-structured 15 interview questions. Women's experiences have differed according to age, education, economic freedom, social-cultural level, living environment and family support. According to the results of the research, woman told the hardest side of being a widow in Turkish society was being labeled as "widow woman" and they told they felt insecure. The women who lost their husbands noted that among the difficulties of being widow, there was the feeling of loneliness, they restricted themselves to guard and hesitate to take in place in society. "Widow woman" image in Turkish society has started to decline over time. In conclusion, in our society the negativity towards widow women, divorced or whose husband passed away, should be decreased. Also we need to reintegrate those widow-labeled oppressed women into society, support them by repairing their self-confidence and self-respect.
