Eğitim ve öğretimin gerçekleştirilmesi sırasında, konuların öğretilmesi ve öğrenciye aktarılması için birçok öğretim materyali kullanılmaktadır. Fen ve Teknoloji dersinin öğrencilere öğretilmesi ve aktarılması sırasında kullanılan en etkili öğretim materyallerinden birisi ders kitaplarıdır. Öğretmen ve öğrencilerin ders kitaplarına sık sık başvurdukları ve dersin işlenmesi sırasında rehber bir araç olarak kullandıkları bilinen bir gerçektir. Ancak ders kitapları incelenerek analiz edildiğinde istenilen seviyede olmadığı ve okunabilirlik açısından yeterli düzeyde olmadığı görülmektedir. Bu durumun öğrencilerde kavram yanılgılarına sebep olduğu dikkate alındığında ders kitabı inceleme ve analiz etmenin önemi ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim 6. sınıf fen ve teknoloji ders kitabının okunabilirliği ve hedef yaş düzeyine uygunluğunu araştırmaktır. Araştırmada Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından 2004 yılı ilköğretim fen ve teknoloji ders programına göre hazırlanan üç farklı 6. sınıf fen ve teknoloji ders kitabının okunabilirlikleri ölçülmüştür. Bu ölçüm için Flesh-Kincaid formülü, Guinning (Fog Index) formülü, Cloze Test yöntemi ve Sönmez modeli kullanılmıştır. Üç farklı kitaptan yedi farklı konu başlığı rastgele seçilmiş ve okunabilirlik formülleri her bir üniteden seçilen yüz kelimelik metinlere uygulanmıştır. Her bir kitabın okunabilirlik seviyesi dört farklı formül kullanılarak tespit edilmiştir. Formüller karşılaştırıldığında Flesh-Kincaid formülü, Guinning formülü ve Cloze Test yönteminin Türkçe dil yapısına uygun olmadığından tutarlı sonuç vermediği, Sönmez modelinin ise Türkçe metinlerin okunabilirliğinin ölçülmesinde doğru sonuç verdiği gözlenmiştir. Sonuçlar literatür bilgisi ile karşılaştırılarak öneriler geliştirilmiştir.
Many teaching materials are used for the teaching of subjects and the transfer of knowledge to students in education and teaching. One of the most effective teaching materials in the teaching and transfer of Science and Technology lesson to students is textbooks. It is a known fact that both teachers and students refer to textbooks quite often, and use them as guides while processing the subjects. However, when textbooks are examined and analyzed, it is seen that they are not at the desired level, and not adequate from the perspective of readability. When the fact that this causes misconceptions in students is considered, the importance of examining and analyzing textbooks becomes apparent. The purpose of this study is to research the readability and suitability for the targeted age group of primary education 6th grade science and technology textbooks. The readability of 3 different 6th grade science and technology textbooks prepared in 2004 by the Ministry of National Education according to the primary education science and technology program were measured. For this measurement, the Flesh-Kincaid formula, Guinning (Fog Index) formula, Cloze Test method and the Sönmez model were used. Seven different subject headings wer randomly selected from three different books, and readability formulas were applied to 100-word texts chosen from each unit. The readability level of each book was determined using four different formula. When the formulas were compared, it was observed that the Flesh-Kincaid formula, Guinning formula and the Cloze Test method did not give consistent results due to their unsuitability to the Turkish language structure, but that the Sönmez model gave correct results for the readability of Turkish texts. The results were compared with literature information, and suggestions were developed.
