Ağır metal olan Cr(VI), su kirliliğine ve canlı bünyesinde toksik etkiye neden olur. Cr(VI) bileşikleri ise son derece toksik ve kanserojen olduğu için çevreye verilmeden önce uzaklaştırılmalıdır. Çevre kirliliğine neden olan ve insan sağlığını tehdit eden inorganik ve organik atıkların giderilmesinde adsorpsiyon; kimyasal çöktürme, koagulasyon, iyon değişimi, biyosorpsiyon gibi etkin yöntemlerden biridir. Bu çalışmada, en önemli ağır metal kirleticilerden biri olarak bilinen Cr(VI) nın sulu çözeltilerinden adsorpsiyon yöntemi ile giderimi araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada adsorban olarak buğday sapı (Triticum sativum) ve Antep fıstığı kabuğu (Pistacia vera L .) kullanılmış ve kesikli sistem çalışmalarında temas süresi, pH, başlangıç Cr(VI) derişimi, adsorban derişimi gibi faktörlerin adsorpsiyon üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmıştır. Sonuçlar temas süresi arttıkça adsorplanan metal miktarının arttığını ve Cr(VI) giderimi için optimum pH değerinin 2,0 olduğunu göstermiştir. Denge adsorpsiyon izoterm eğrileri Freundlich ve Langmuir adsorpsiyon izotermleri kullanılarak çizilmiş ve bu izotermlerden adsorpsiyon parametreleri (Kb, n, k, As) hesaplanmıştır. Cr(VI) iyonunun çözeltilerdeki miktarı UV-visible kullanılarak ölçülmüştür.
Cr(VI) is a heavy metal which causes of water pollution and has toxic effect on the living structures. Because of its toxicity and carcinogenic nature, Cr(VI) compounds must be removed before discharging to the environment. Adsorption is one of the efficient methods like chemical precipitation, coagulation, ion exchange and biosorption for removing inorganic and organic wastes which cause environmental pollution and threat human health. In this study, removal of the Cr(VI) ions, one of the most important metal pollutants, in their aqueous solutions by adsorption method were investigated. In the study, Wheat straws (Triticum sativum) and Antep pistachio shells(Pistacia vera L .) were used as an adsorbent then effects of some parameters like contact time, pH, initial Cr(VI) concentration and adsorbent concentration on the adsorption were investigated. Experimental results indicated that adsorbed metal concentration was increased with increasing contact time, and optimum pH value for the Cr(VI) removal was 2,0. Equilibrium sorption isotherm were drawn by using Freundlich and Langmuir sorption isotherms and the sorption parameters (Kb, n, k and As) were calculated from these isotherms. The Cr(VI) ion concentration was determined by UV- Visible Spectrophotometer.
