Bu çalışmada; sanayide yaygın olarak üretilen ve maliyeti ucuz olan blok polistirenlerin katyonik katalizör ortamında kimyasal modifikasyonuyla aromatik halkasına fonksiyonel grup bağlanarak elde edilen ürünlerin bazı eksik özelliklerinin ortadan kaldırılması ve sentezlenen fonksiyonel gruplu polistirenlere yeni özelliklerin kazandırılması ve kullanım alanlarının geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla molekül ağırlığı 230 000 g/mol ve 350 000 g/mol olan blok polistirenler hammadde olarak kullanılarak BF3'0(C2H5)2 katalizörlüğünde asetik anhidritle modifikasyon reaksiyonları gerçekleştirilmiştir. Polistirenin kimyasal modifikasyon reaksiyonuna reaksiyon komponentlerin konsantrasyonunun, sıcaklığın ve çözücü hacminin etkileri incelendi ve denenen şartlardan en iyi reaksiyon şartı bulunmuştur. Bu nedenle polistiren, BF3'0(C2Hs)2 ve asetik anhidrit mol oranlarmm modifikasyon sonucunda polistirenin aromatik halkasına bağlanan acil grup miktarına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Sentezlenen acil (-COCH3) gruplu polistirenlerin yapısı acil grubun miktarı modifikasyon sırasında reaksiyon ortamında oluşan asetik asitin titrasyonu ile tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca modifiye polistirenin yapısı IR-spektrometresi ile tespit edilmiştir. Denenen en iyi reaksiyon şartında elde edilen modifiye polimerin metal yüzeyine adhezyon ve agresif şartlarda korozyona karşı direnci incelenmiştir.
In this study, it is aimed to remove some absent properties of the products obtained as a result of a bonding made with a chemical modification in the presence of cationic catalyzer between a functional group and the aromatic ring of block polystyrenes that are produced widespread in the industry with a cheaper cost, and then to gain new properties to the synthesized functional grouped polystyrenes and to develop the utilization areas of them. Therefore, by using the block polystyrenes molecular weights of 230 000 g/mole and 350 000 g/mole as raw materials, their modification reactions with acetic anhydride under the catalization of BF3.0(C2H5)2 were performed. The effects of reaction components, concentration, temperature and solvent volume on the chemical modification reaction were examined and optimum reaction condition was determined. Then, the effects of polystyrene, BF3.0(C2H5)2 and acetic anhydride mole ratios onto the acyl group amount that was bonded to the aromatic ring of the polystyrene at the end of the modification were also investigated. The structure of acyl (-COCH3) grouped polystyrenes and the amount of the acyl group were determined by the titration of acidic acid formed in the reaction media during the modification process. Furthermore, the structure of the modified polystyrene was found with IR-spectrometer. The durability of modified polymer obtained with optimum reaction condition was tested against the metal surface under adhesion and corrosion conditions.
