Bu çalışmada atık malzemelerin değerlendirilip çevresel kirliliğin önlenmesi ve malzeme maliyetinin azaltılması amacıyla anorganik yapılı çelikhane cürufu ve organik yapılı yer fıstığı kabuğunun (YFK) iki farklı epoksi matris sisteminde dolgu maddesi olarak kullanılması ile kompozit malzemeler elde edilmiştir. Cürufun modifiye edilmesi ile hazırlanan modifiye çelikhane cürufu (MC) da kompozit malzemelerde dolgu maddesi olarak kullanılmıştır. Dolgu maddesi miktarının, sertleştirici türünün ve polietilen glikol (PEG) ilavesinin kompozit malzemelerin fiziko-mekanik ve termal özellikleri üzerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Kompozit malzemelerin özellikleri X-ışını kırınım (XRD) analizi, çekme, sertlik, korozyon direnci, adhezyon, su sorpsiyon testi, termogravimetrik analiz (TGA), vikat yumuşama sıcaklığı (VYS) tayini ve soğuk ortama dayanım testi ile belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar birbiri ile ve saf epoksi reçinesi (ER) ile karşılaştırılmıştır. NPEL 128 (R1) reçinesi kullanılarak hazırlanan kompozit malzemelerin NPEF 164 X reçinesi (R2) kullanılarak hazırlanan malzemelere göre daha homojen tanecik dağılımına, daha yüksek çekme dayanımına, daha yüksek sertlik değerine ve daha iyi termal dayanıma sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Malzemelerin korozyon direnci, adhezyon ve soğuk ortama dayanım özelliklerinde cüruf miktarı ve sertleştirici türünün değiştirilmesi ile önemli bir değişim olmamıştır. MNA sertleştiricisi içeren kompozit malzemelerin Epamine PC17 sertleştiricisi içeren malzemelerden daha iyi fiziko-mekanik ve termal özelliklere sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Modifikasyon işlemi MC ve ER arasındaki uyumu arttırmıştır. MC dolgulu kompozit malzemelerin fiziko-mekanik özelliklerinin saf cüruf içeren malzemelerden daha iyi olduğu görülmüştür. PEG ilavesi ile kompozit malzemelerin çekme dayanımı, TGA ve VYS değerlerinde kısmi bir azalma gözlenirken su sorpsiyon değerlerinde artış gözlenmiştir. Saf YFK'nin dolgu maddesi olarak kullanılması ile hazırlanan kompozit malzemelerin korozyon dayanımı, adhezyon özellikleri ve soğuk ortam direnci oldukça iyi olmasına rağmen artan YFK miktarı ile malzemelerin çekme dayanımı, Young modülü, TGA ve VYS değerleri azalmıştır. Saf ER ile karşılaştırıldığında elde edilen kompozit malzemelerin su sorpsiyon değerleri YFK miktarı artışı ile önemli ölçüde artmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar cüruf ve YFK'nin kompozit malzeme üretiminde dolgu maddesi olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir. Dolgu maddesi olarak cüruf ve YFK içeren kompozit malzemelerin yüksek mekanik ve termal dayanımın gerekli olmadığı alanlarda, kaplama, paketleme ve dekorasyon gibi çeşitli sektörlerde kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
In this study, composite materials were prepared using steel slag (SS) and groundnut hull (GH) that has inorganic and organic structure, respectively in the two different epoxy resin (ER) to prevent environmental pollution and reduce material cost. And also, modified steel slag (MS) obtained after modification of SS were used as a filler. Amount of filler, type of hardener and polyethylene glycol (PEG) effects on the physico-mechanical and thermal properties of the composite materials were investigated. The properties of the composites were determined by the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, tensile, hardness, corrosion resistance, adhesion, water sorption tests, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vicat softening temperature (VST) and cold resistance tests. And then, the results were compared with each other and ER. It was shown that composite materials containing NPEL 128 resin (R1) had better homogeneous particle distribution, high tensile strength, hardness values and thermal resistance than composites containing NPEF 164 X resin (R2). There were no important changes in the corrosion resistance, adhesion properties and resistance to cold environment with the amount of SS and type of hardener. However, the composites hardened with MNA had better physico-mechanical and thermal properties than the composites hardened with Epamine PC17. Strong interaction between MS and ER was provided by surface modification of SS. Therefore, physico-mechanical properties of the composites were enhanced with utilization of MS. While it was observed that TGA and VST values slightly decreased with the addition of PEG, water sorption values of the composites showed an increase. Although corrosion resistance, adhesion properties and resistance to cold environment of the composites filled with GH were favorable, tensile strength, Young modulus, TGA and VST values were decreased with increasing amount of GH. When compared with neat ER, water sorption values of the composites considerably increased with GH content. The results indicated that composite materials filled with SS and GH were prepared succesfully. It is thought that composite materials filled with SS and GH can be used in various fields where mechanical strength and thermal resistance are not extremely necessary, coating, packaging and decoration.
