In this study, a new monomer ethyl ferrocenylmethyl 3,4-pyrroledicarboxylate was synthesized by transesterification reaction 3,4-pyrroledicarboxylate with ferrocenemethanol. The chemical structure of the monomer was characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Electrochemical behavior of ethyl ferrocenylmethyl 3,4-pyrroledicarboxylate was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Ethyl ferrocenylmethyl 3,4-pyrroledicarboxylate has been polymerized on platinum and ITO electrodes by potential cycling and constant potential electrolysis methods. The polymer films thus prepared have been characterized by electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical techniques. Spectroelectrochemistry experiments were performed to investigate the changes of the electronic transitions of the polymer films, with increase of applied potential. The absorption spectrums of the polymer films were recorded by application of different potential corresponding to different redox states of the polymers. The morphologies of the polymer films were investigated by using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical stability of the polymer was investigated cyclic voltammetry method.
