Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin sosyal problem çözme düzeylerinin; sosyal yetkinlik, sınıf, cinsiyet, yaş, anne ve baba eğitim durumu değişkenlerine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını incelemektir. Genel tarama modeline uygun olarak gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın evrenini, 2009-2010 akademik yılında Selçuk Üniversitesi'nde öğrenim gören lisans öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Selçuk Üniversitesi'nin farklı yedi fakültesinde öğrenim gören 493'ü kız (%58,1); 356'sı erkek (%41,9) toplam 849 birinci ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizi, SPSS 17.00 paket programında gerçekleştirilmiş; t testi, varyans ve regresyon analizleri ile Pearson momentler çarpım korelasyon katsayısı teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Yapılan istatistikî analizler sonucunda aşağıdaki sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır: Cinsiyet değişkeni açısından kız ve erkek öğrencilerden elde edilen probleme olumlu yönelme ve akılcı problem çözme puanları arasında anlamlı düzeyde bir farkın olmadığı; kız öğrencilerden elde edilen probleme olumsuz yönelme puanlarının, erkek öğrencilerden elde edilenlere göre; erkek öğrencilerden elde edilen içtepisel dikkatsiz ve kaçınmacı yaklaşım puanlarının ise kız öğrencilerden elde edilenlere göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Sınıf, yaş, anne ve baba eğitim durumları açısından öğrencilerden elde edilen probleme olumlu ve olumsuz yönelme, içtepisel dikkatsiz ve kaçınmacı yaklaşım ile akılcı problem çözme puanları arasında anlamlı düzeyde bir farka rastlanmamıştır. Sosyal yetkinlik ölçeğinden elde edilen puanlar ile probleme olumlu yönelme ve akılcı problem çözme puanları arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu saptanırken; probleme olumsuz yönelme, içtepisel dikkatsiz ve kaçınmacı yaklaşım puanları arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca sosyal yetkinlik puanlarının içtepisel dikkatsiz yaklaşım alt ölçek puanları hariç diğer sosyal problem çözme envanteri alt ölçek puanlarını yordadığı bulunmuştur.
The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not university students? levels of social problem-solving differs according to social efficacy, grade, gender, age, education level of mother and education level of father variables. The target population of the study which was carried in accordance with the general scanning model was undergraduate students who studied at Selcuk University in 2009-2010 academic year. The sample of the study is consisted of 849 students including 493 female students (58,1%) and 356 male students (41,9%) among first and forth grades from seven different faculties of Selcuk University. The statistical analysis of data was conducted by the SPSS 17.00 packaged software and data were analyzed by using t test, analysis of variance, Tukey?s test and Pearson product-moment correlation technique. The results for the interpretations of the statistical analysis are following: The results indicate that there is not a significant difference between male and female students? points of positive problem orientation and rational problem solving. Female students? points of negative problem orientation were significantly higher than the male students? where male students? points of impulsive careless attitude and avoidant attitude were significantly higher than female students'. When the results of the investigation were interpreted in terms of grade, age, father's and mother's education level variables, there is not a significant difference between university students? points of positive and negative problem orientation, impulsive careless and avoidant attitude and rational problem solving. It has been detected that there is a positive correlation between the points of social self-efficacy scale and points of positive problem orientation and rational problem solving, whereas there is a negative correlation between the points of negative problem orientation, impulsive careless attitude and avoidant attitude. Also, it was found that social self-efficacy points can be used to predict subscale points of other social problem solving inventories except impulsive careless attitude.
