Tezimizin konusu İmam Şernûbî'nin tasavvuf anlayışının, tasavvufî terimlere yaklaşımının ve tasavvufta önemli bir yeri olan keşf konusunun değerlendirilmesi ve yorumlanmasından oluşmaktadır. Çalışmamızda İmam Şernûbî'nin bu husustaki anlayışının, İslam düşüncesindeki diğer yaklaşımlara göre önemi, farklılığı ve getirdiği yeni boyut gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır. Tasavvufun en önemli konularından birisi keşftir. Bu konu her zaman için tartışma konusu olma özelliğini ve ilginçliğini korumuştur. Ahmed eş-Şernubi'nin Tabakatü'l-evliya eserinde de en belirgin fikir budur. Desûkî tarikatının şeyhi olan eş-Şernûbî'nin bu eserini müridi Muhammed el-Bulkînî (v. 994/1585'ten sonra) kaleme almıştır. Kitabdaki bilgileri imla ettiren eş-Şernûbî, müstensihi ise el-Bulkînî olduğundan dolayı kitap Ahmed eş-Şernûbî?ye ait kabul edilmiştir. İmam Şernûbî'nin Tabakâtü'l-Evliyâ adlı eseri hacimce pek büyük olmasa da, bu yönüyle büyük bir önemi haiz bulunmaktadır. İmam Şernûbî, kendisine kadar zenginleşerek gelen keşf konusunu daha da genişletmiş ve bu konuda örneği olmayan bir eser yazmıştır. Bu eserin incelenmesi neticesinde yüzde yüz olmazsa bile, en azından keşfî bilginin ne kadar doğruluk ve yanlışlık payının olduğunu öğrenmeğe çalışacağız. Elimizdeki bu eser bu konuda bizim için önemli bir kaynaktır. Eser tasavvufî tecrübenin bir sûfîdeki somut/mücerred neticesini ortaya koyması yönünden de büyük bir ehemmiyet taşımaktadır.
