Sosyal medyanın geleneksel medyada temsil pratikleri: Arap Baharı ve Gezi Parkı olayları örneği

Abstract

İletişim teknolojilerinin hayatımızın her alanında etkili olduğu günümüzde, yeni iletişim teknolojilerinden biri olarak konumlandırılan sosyal medya, olumlu ya da olumsuz etkileriyle iletişim çalışmalarında olduğu kadar, geleneksel medyanın da söyleminde çeşitli şekillerde ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışmada geleneksel medyanın sosyal medyayı nasıl anlamlandırdığı sorusuna cevap aranmış ve bu doğrultuda Arap Baharı ve Gezi Parkı olayları örneğinde geleneksel medya araçlarından biri olan gazetelerde yer alan köşe yazılarında, sosyal medyanın tanımlanma biçimleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada geleneksel medyanın sosyal medyayı anlamlandırma pratiklerinde, toplumsal olayların nerede gerçekleştiğinin, gazetelerin ideolojik konumlanışının ve iktidarlara yaklaşım biçimlerinin ne gibi söylem farklılıkları oluşturduğu belirlenmek istenmiştir. Çalışmada Türkiye'de günlük yayın yapan farklı ideolojilere sahip 10 ulusal gazetede, sosyal medyaya yüklenen anlamlar içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiş ve elde edilen veriler SPSS programına aktarılarak bulgular yorumlanmıştır. Sosyal medyaya yüklenen anlamlarda, gazetelerin ideolojik eğilimleri, olayların nerede gerçekleştiği, iktidarlara karşı yaklaşım biçimleri gibi değişkenlerin belirleyici olduğu görülmektedir.

Today communication technologies are effective in every aspect of our lives, and social media which is positioned as one of the new communication technologies, has been addressed with its positive or negative effects by communication studies, as well as by traditional media in various ways. In this study, the answer to the question of how the social media is interpreted by traditional media is sought, and in this direction, it is attempted to put forth the description ways of social media in columns in newspapers which is one of the traditional media tools, through the examples of Arab Spring and Gezi Park. In addressing the two social movements that took place in different places, it was discussed whether there was a change in the meanings produced through social media, and what types of discourses in meanings attributed to the social media have created by the ideological positioning of the newspapers and the ways in which they approach the governments. In the study, the meanings attributed to the social media in 10 newspapers with different ideologies published on a daily basis in Turkey, have been analyzed through content analysis method. The data obtained has been transferred to the SPSS program and the findings have been interpreted. In the study, when the representation practices of social media in the traditional media are examined through two events, in the meanings attributed to the social media, it can be seen that variables such as the ideological orientations of the newspapers, their ways of approaching to the rulers, and the locations the events take place, are important.
