In order to achieve ablation as the result of the laser-material interaction, it is necessary to exceed a certain laser fluence value that depends on the characteristics of the laser and the workpiece. This value is defined as the ablation threshold fluence (Fth). It is important to have Fth value to choose experimental parameters that are suitable for the desired results of the ablation process. In this study, Fth of bulk metals and thin films are calculated using D-scan method. Thin films are produced in three different thicknesses using PLD technique for each metal target. D-scan processes are applied through different wavelengths in femtosecond and nanosecond laser systems. The gathered results obtained for many material structures are compared to each other and the literature data. The results show that the ablation threshold values obtained by the fs laser pulses are appropriate values. It is also seen that numerical data obtained by the ns laser pulses are not exact Fth values though; they show similar characteristics to the threshold values.
