Vilayet matbaaları ve Konya Vilayet Matbaası

Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti, başkent dışında da basım merkezleri oluşturmuştur. Vilayet matbaaları, bu sürecin ürünüdür. Konya'da da aynı şekilde bir matbaa kurulmuştur. Taş baskı ile işe başlayan matbaaya, sonra tipo (hurufat) kısmı eklenir. Burada, resmî vilayet gazetesi başta olmak üzere yerel gazete, dergi ve kitaplar basılır. Ayrıca vilayet için gerekli basılı malzeme de çoğaltılır. Bu haliyle de yerel basın ve baskı faaliyetlerinin ilk çekirdeğini teşkil eder. Genel yapı itibariyle alanındaki gelişmelere model olur. Üç çeyrek asra yakın süre çalışan matbaa, 1933'te vilayetin elinden çıkartılır.

The provincial printing houses in the Ottoman State vere the outcome of the state policy to establish provincial printing houses along the capital. The "Vilayet" (District government) Printing House of Konya which was set up in this era as a lithography press and which later added the typography section printed along with the official province paper many local newspapers, priodicals and books. The documents necessary for the district government had been reprinted there too. The printing press worked nearli for three centuries until 1933 when it had been abandoned by the government. The "Vilayet Press" has formed the first nucleus of all local printing and press activity and establisled a model for all developments in this field.
