Bu çalışma, melodram filmlerine ait uylaşımları yeniden işleyen ve açıkça kendisinin melodram
olduğunu duyuran Cennetten Çok Uzakta (Far From Heaven) filmini konu ediniyor. Çalışmanın
amacı, melodram sinemasının türsel kodlarını ya da tarzını, kendi geçmişini unutmadan günümüz
filmlerinde nasıl dolaşıma soktuğunu, Cennetten Çok Uzakta filmi çerçevesinde incelemektir. Çalışmada
bu film, her ikisi de melodram olan Sirk’ün Cennetin İzin Verdiği Her Şey (All That Heaven
Allows) ile Fassbinder’in Korku Ruhu Yer Bitirir (Fear Eats The Soul) filmleriyle olan metinlerarası
ilişkileri çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma, Cennetten Çok Uzakta filminin,
1950’lerin melodramlarını biçemsel ve izleksel açıdan genişlettiğini savunmaktadır.
This article deals with the film Far From Heaven reconsidering the melodramatic narrative conventions
and which openly announces itself as melodrama. The main aim of this essay is to analyze
how melodama films circulate generic codes or generic modality in the films of today, including
it’s own generic past within the context of Far From Heaven. The film in the essay is to be studied
in the framework of intertextuality and is related to films of All That Heaven Allows and Fear Eats
The Soul which are melodrama. In this essay is is claimed that the film Far From Heaven has
extented the visin of 1950’s melodramas from formal and thematical point of view.
