Fuzuli, çok tanınmış ve usta bir şairdir. Türkçe, Arapça ve Farsça'da eserler vermiştir. Bu çalışmada Fuzuli'nin Leyla ile Mecnun unun esas alınmasının nedeni, Fuzuli'nin eserinin diğerlerinden daha başarılı oluşudur. Fuzuli'nin şiirlerinde aşk yüzünden çekilen acı belirgindir. Fuzuli ve diğer sufiler, şiiri, manevi hallerini ifade etmek için kullanırlar. Mevlana, İbn Arabi, Yunus Emre gibi ünlü sufilerde bu durum kolayca görülür. Bu şiirler pek çok metafor içerir. Fuzuli bunu Leyla ile Mecnun eserinin önsözünde şu sözlerle dile getirir: Gerçeğe ulaşmak arzusu ile, mecaz yolunu tutup da, hikaye söylemek bahanesiyle sırları açıkladığımda; Leyla vasıtası ile (Ey Tanrı) senin sıfatlarını anlatmaya başladığımda. Mecnun, Tanrı'ya ulaşmaya çabalayan Fuzuli'yi, Leyla ise bu dünyada ne yapılırsa yapılsın ulaşılamayacak olan Tanrı'yı sembolize eder. Oyunun sahnelenişinde bu sembolizasyon kullanılmıştır ve oyunun rejisi bu temel üzerine kurulmuştur. Oyunun anlatıcısı, geleneksel türlerden meddah formundadır. Böylece oyun hem epik anlatı türü olan hikaye anlatıcı hem de anlatılan hikayenin diğer oyuncularca temsil edilmesi ile dramatik anlatı türünü kullanmaktadır.
Fuzuli is a very famous and great poet. his works are in turkish, arabic, and persian. the reason why the work by fuzuli is used is his work is more succesfull than the others. the pain resulted from love is apparent in fuzuli's work. fuzuli and other sofis use the poetry as a mean of spiruality. this situation can be obseved in sufis' works such as mevlana, ibni arabi and yunus emre . those poems include many metaphors. fuzuli states this situation in his foreword saying; when i revealed the truth by the will of reaching the truth, on the path of metaphor, by the irony of telling a story; when i started to explain your properties. Mecnun symbolizes fuzuli trying to reach god and leyla symbolizes the god which cannot be reached on the earth despite all the efforts. this symbolization has been used in the scenery of the play. and the regime of the play has been based on this. the teller of the play is in the form of traditional meddah. so the play uses the genre of drama by the help of story teller in the form of epic quoting and by the help of the symbolization of the players of the story. meddah is the forefather of the contemporary stand up shows. by the time it has converted into story teller and it can supply broad storytelling opportunities to the writers and directors...
