Osmanlılarda, resmı ulaşım ve haberleşme, uzun bir süre menzihaneler
vasıtasıyla temin edilmiştir. Menzihanelerden verilen hizmetler dönemsel olmayıp,
her gün yirmi dört saat olmak üzere, tüm yıl kesintisiz bir biçimde devam
ermektedir. Menzilhanelerin fizikı yapılarının, müştemilatlarının ve tefrişlerinin de
sürekli hizmet vennelerine imkan tanıyacak biçimde tasarlandığı düşünülmektedir.
Bu çalışmanın ana gayesi de, mevcut verilerin ışığında menzilhanelerin mekan
özelliklerini, müştemilatlarını, tefrişlerini ve gündelik hayatın ihtiyaçlarını karşılama
imkanlarını sorgulamak, tartışmak ve ortaya koyabilmektir.
The Ottoman official transportation and communication were for a long
period carried out by/through the menzilhanes. The menzilhane services were
perfonning full-time activity during the year, also not periodically. The menzilhane
facility had to be regular, therefore the psychical structure of the menzilhane as
well as auxiliary buildings and furnishing were planned according to its function.
The main objective of this study is to discuss and display: the characteristics
of location, the auxiliary buildings and the fumishing of the menzilhane, also the
problematic about meeting the requirements of the daily life in the light of the
existing sources
