Ne derece somut bir medeniyet hamlesi olduğu akademik çevrelerde yaygın olarak
tartışılan globalleşme olgusunun en önemli yapıtaşlarından biri elbette ki sinema sektörü ve
onun en temel elementi olan filmlerdir. Globalleşme programlarına paralel olarak, belli bir
ülkenin ürünü olan ve o ülkenin lisanı ile çekilen filmlerin başka lisanların konuşulduğu
ülkelerde de gösterilmesi geçmişe oranla, son yıllarda gittikçe artan bir yoğunluğa
ulaşmıştır. Öyle ki bugün artık sadece çekildiği ülkenin seyircilerine hitap eden filmlerin
sayısı dünyanın her yerinde gösterime girebilen "global filmler" diye nitelendirilebilecek
filmlere oranla hayli azdır. Bu durum, sinema sektöründe "altyazı ve altyazı çevirisi"
olgusunun önemini çok artırmıştır. Uluslararası / global sinema sektörünün cıddi
pazarlarından olan Türkiye'de ise, sinema altyazısı ve çevirisi tekniği ve popüler
uygulamaları uluslararası ölçülerden ve standartlardan çok uzak bir manzara arz etmektedir.

civilization advance. in parallel to globalization programmes, the releasing rate of the films
in other countries apart from the counry where the films are produced in a certain native
language, has dramatically increased over the recent years compared to the rates in the
past. That is to say, the number of the films addressing merely to the audience of the
particular country of the production, today, has been rather scarce, compared to the films
that are screened ali over the world and may be modified as "global films". This process,
Iikewise, has increased the significance of "subtitling and its translation". As far as Turkey is
concerned, which is an eminent market country of the global / international cinema sector,
the technique and popular applications of subtitling and its translation present a situation
being rather far away from international measures and standards.
