Science and technology, which are the sources of information in today’s societies,
lead to a mechanical view of the world by virtue of their nature. Although the perception of
a mechanical world and the vision of an information-based world can be seen as a natural
result of scientific and technological developments, they are criticized by critical theories on
the grounds that they have a manipulative. According to these criticisms, information is not
flowing in its own course. There are those who manipulate it. It is shaped by socioeconomic
and socio-political sources and manipulated by mass media. Therefore, although
mass media have the potential to provide equality and democracy in society, they can not
achieve this. The purpose of this study is to look at the matter from a different perspective
while maintaining that being an information society, which is no longer a subject of debate
today, is a must. Thus, the ideas presented in the study are limited to critical views.
