İslamiyet’in doğuşundan hemen sonra özellikle fetihler sonucu İslam’ın
yayılması ile Arap olmayan milletlerin Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’i doğru okuyup
açıklayan İmâm Birgivî (öl. 981/1573)’nin “ʻAvâmil-i Cedîd” adlı muhtasar eseri
müellifin şerhini yaptığı İmâm Birgivî’ye ait “ʻAvâmil-i Cedîd” (Yeni ʻAvâmil)
üzerine yapılmış diğer çalışmalar, “ʻAvâmil-i Cedîd” ile aynı türde yazılmış ve aynı
ismi taşıyan Şeyh Abdulḳahir Curcanî (öl. 471/1078)’ye ait “ʻAvâmil-i ʻAtîk” (Eski
ʻAvâmil) adlı eser arasındaki farklar, “ʻAvâmil-i Cedîd”in içeriği, müellifin eserinde
takip ettiği metot ve eserin yazma nüshaları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir.
With the spread of Islam among non-Arab communities just after its rise,
particularly by the conquests, vowel points were placed on verses of the Quran
and Islamic scholars started to compose first Arabic grammatical studies in order
to provide non-Arab people read and understand the Quran correctly. The term of
“᷾irab” which is defined as the determination of the vowel point of the last
character of the word according the position of that word in the sentence is a
branch of science supposed to be known by people who desires to study Islamic
sciences. Therefore, Ottoman scholars composed so many works on “᷾irab” branch
and composed commentary and complementary studies on earlier works too. In
our work, the life, scientific background and works of Naqid İbrahim Efendi (d.
1717) a nd h is w ork n amed “ al-Sharḥ al-Sadeed li al-ʻAwamil al-Jadeed” was
introduced. “al-Sharḥ al-Sadeed li al-ʻAwamil al-Jadeed” is a commentary work
composed in Arabic language on İmam Birkiwi’s (d. 981/1573) brief work about
Arabic syntax called “al-ʻAwamilu’l-Jadeed” which had been studied more than
three centuries dating from XVI. centrury in Ottoman schools (madrasah) and on
which so many commentary, complementray and translation works were
composed. By introducing this work, information about the meaning of the title,
purpose of the work, other works done on Imam Birkiwi’s work named “al-
ʻAwamil al-Jadeed” (New ʻAwamil) which the author composed the commentary
work on, and the differencies between “al-ʻAwamilu’l-Jadeed” and the same type
of work of Sheikh Abd al Qahir Jurjani (d. 471/1078) which has the same name
called “al-ʻAwamil al-ʻAteeq” (Old ʻAwamil), the content of “al-ʻAwamilu’l-
Jadeed”, the method of the author which he implemented in his work and the
manuscript copies of the work were given.
