Interval estimation for the two-parameter pareto distribution based on record values
Asgharzadeh, A.; Abdi, M.; Kuş, Coşkun
This paper considers the interval estimation problem for the Pareto distribution based on record statistics. We present some exact confidence intervals and exact joint confidence regions for the parameters of Pareto distribution based on record statistics. One of the applications of the joint confidence regions of the parameters is to find confidence bounds for the functions of the parameters. In addition, the predictive interval of the future record based on the observed record values is also proposed. A Monte Carlo simulation is conducted to compare the proposed joint confidence regions. Finally, two numerical examples are given also to illustrate the methods proposed in this paper.

The determination of outlier values by M estimator in nonlinear regression and a simulation study
Pekgör, Ahmet; Genç, Aşır
The existence of a few outlier values in the sampling would prevent the information given by the majority of the sampling and all of the statistics would turn to be insignificant. Therefore it is essential to determine the outliers in the sampling. In the literature, there are studies regarding the determination of the outliers in the linear regression. In this study, under the light of the studies of Rousseeuw ve Zomeren (1990) and Wu and Lee (2006), it is aimed to determination of outlier values by M estimator in nonlinear regression, one of the robust location estimators. In the application, the height of a corn plant has been analyzed as the sample data set per weeks in the period of 2008 in the Konya region using the Selçuk STAT statistics package program.

In this study, the stress-strength reliability, R=P[Max(Y?,Y?)<X], and its maksimum likelihood estimation (MLE) are obtained when a component which has X strength with Gamma distribution is exposed to two independent stresses having exponential distributions with different parameters. In addition, A simulation study is performed to see how the MLE behaves.

Smart card approach for secure data communication
Yılmaz, Tarık
With the introduction of internet technology, e-trade, voice and video transfer and social networks are increasingly becoming widespread. Thanks to these technologies, people can do their jobs in a virtual environment non-spatially and rapidly. However, the security of the data people share using these technologies is serious concern. In this study, a method to provide security of the data shared on the internet is proposed. This method is developed by integrating smart card technology and encryption techniques. In the application section, method and the software developed to operate the method are defined in details.
